The NotamPlot client program is provided free of charge for private individuals and general aviation flying schools/clubs. Other commercial organisations wishing to use this software should contact the author. However, if as a private individual or school/club you find this program useful please make a suitable donation to your favorite charity. Downloading and/or using NotamPlot indicates acknowledgement and acceptance of these terms.

step 1 : Install the Java Runtime Environment

If you are installing on Mac OS X you can skip this step as the Mac has a built-in Java runtime environment.

If you already have a Java runtime environment installed which is version 1.5 (Java 5) or 1.6 you can skip this step. Otherwise you need to downlaod and install the Java runtime environment from Sun's website as follows:

• 1. Click here to go to the Sun Java download area
• 2. Scroll down and click Download next to Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 17
• 3. Select your platform from the dropdown list. For most of you this will be Windows
• 4. Click the checkbox to agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement
• 5. Click Continue
• 6. Click the text link jre-6u17-windows-i586.exe under Windows Online Installation. If you want to download the Java runtime environment and do the installation of it later you can select the offline installation instead
• 7. Depending on your browser and settings, select to open/run the file or save the file and run it yourself to start the Java installation
• 8. Follow the instructions for the installer, accepting the default options (you can select to not install the Yahoo Toolbar if you would rather not when asked)

step 2 : Download NotamPlot v2.5

The NotamPlot installers are created with ej-technologies install4J. Click for more details about their excellent product.

Please try to limit the number of downloads you do to the minimum as they consume my bandwidth quota quickly. Click the appropriate download option for your platform from the table below:

Run the downloaded installer to install NotamPlot.

step 3 : Retain Your User Waypoints / Routes

You can retain your user waypoints from NotamPlot v2.1 onwards by copying UserWaypoints.xml from your v2.x installation directory to the v2.5 installation directory (called NotamPlot, under Program Files on Windows)

You can retain your routes from NotamPlot v2.x by copying Routes.xml from your v2.x installation directory to the v2.5 installation directory as above.

step 4 : Configure Your Avbrief Connection Settings In NotamPlot

See the user guide either here on the website or installed with NotamPlot for how to configure your Avbrief connection settings.

Please also take the time to read the rest of the user guide, especially the section marked Important so you are clear on what you are seeing on the screen when using NotamPlot.

Java runtime environment issues

In order to reduce the bandwidth drain on the download server it is highly preferred that you use the above process for installation of NotamPlot.
